Info Post
It is the duty of every Muslim to engage in the remembrance of Allah Ta’ala. Allah gives success and reciprocates the reward of those who engage themselves regularly in His Remembrance. Allah says: “Therefore remember me, I will remember you and be grateful to me and do not reject faith.” [Surah Al-Baqarah: 152]

Dhikr helps to abstain from sin and its purpose is to purify hearts and souls and awaken the human conscience. The Qur’an says, “And establish regular prayer, for prayer restrains from shameful and unjust deeds, and remembrance of Allah is the greatest thing in life, without doubt.” Qur’an 29.45

Many often people do useless talking and forget to remember Allah. However by staying absorbed in this noble act of dhikr one replaces engaging in talk in which there is no benefit and earns more rewards. And certainly the narrations and the ayaat concerning the greatness of dhikr are many. Allah says: “O you who believe remember Allah with much remembrance, and glorify His praises in the morning and the afternoon.” [Surah Al-Ahzaab: 41-42]

It is essential that the one performing Dhikr rectifies his heart in that dhikr, along with his tongue. It is also essential that the one performing the dhikr knows and understands what he is saying in his supplication and what he is asking for Allah says: “And remember your Lord with your tongue and within yourself, humbly and with fear and without loud words, in the morning and afternoon and be not of those who are neglectful.” [Surah Al-A’araaf: 205]

When a servant opens up his soul to his Lord, extolling His praise, Allah strengthens him with His light, increasing thereby his faith and conviction, and reassuring his mind and heart. Allah says: “Those who believe and whose hearts find tranquility in the Remembrance of Allah, verily in the Remembrance of Allah do hearts find tranquility.” [Surah Ar-Radd: 28]

Surely by remembering Allah there is much greater reward in this world and the next. The purpose of Dhikr is the obtainable of Allah’s Pleasure and He promises a great reward and safety from punishment for those who remember Him. Allah says: “And the men and women who remember Allah much (with their hearts and tongues), Allah has prepared for them forgiveness and a great reward (i.e. Paradise).”(Al-Ahzaab 33: 35).

Abu Hurayrah (radyAllaahu ‘anhu), the Messenger of Allaah (sallAllaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said that Allaah said: “Indeed I am as My servant presumes me to be. And I am with him when He remembers me, so if he remembers Me to himself then I remember him to Myself. And if he remembers Me amongst a company I remember him amongst a company greater than it and if he draws close to Me a span of a hand I draw near to him the span of an arm. And if he draws near Me the span of an arm, I draw near him the span of two outstretched arms. And if he takes a step towards Me, I quickly step towards him.” [Al-Bukharee and Muslim]

In another hadeeth on the authority of Abu Moosaa al-Ash’aree (radyAllaahu ’anhu ), the Messenger of Allaah said: “The comparison of the one who remembers Allah and the one who doesn’t is like that of the living and the dead.” [Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree]

If we ponder and think how much time we waste so easily in worldly affairs, and how much time we devote to our Creator. In this twenty four hours of night and day, i truly believe that it is possible for anyone who wishes to earn rewards to find at least one hour for specific remembrance of Allah. May Allah grant us guidance and make us among those who remember Him day and night, insha Allah.. Ameen. Jazak Allah for reading!
